Publication history
Bethesda Softworks continued the trend established with Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. Add-ons for Fallout 4 were confirmed on February 16, 2016 with the announcement of three add-ons for all platforms: Automatron, Wasteland Workshop, and Far Harbor, released in March, April, and May 2016, respectively. Another trilogy of add-ons was announced at Bethesda Softworks's keynote at E3 2016, announcing Contraptions Workshop, Vault-Tec Workshop, and Nuka-World released in June, July and August of 2016, respectively.
Half of the add-ons focused on expanding the lore of the Fallout universe with new characters, locales, gear and quest lines, while the other half were mainly focused on expanding the utility of settlements and workshop mode.
